Soul Barbs Curse Necro
Ok, this is my Necro/Monk Soul Barbs Curse Necro. (Clever name huh?)
Attributes
Soul Reaping: 10
Curses: 16
Healing Prayers: 8
Equipment: Anything to do with curses.
Skills
1. Soul Barbs
2. Parasitic Bond
3. Wither
4. Malaise
5. Enfeeble
6. Insidious Parasite
7. Mending
8. Resurrection Signet
Focus: CA
At the very begining of the match cast mending on yourself. You should have +3 health. That way if you use Malaise, you will not be losing health. Then, once the match begins, you find a spellcaster. Then cast soul barbs, parasitic bond, wither, and malaise. That way, they will have -3 health degen and no energy regeneration. After you do that you can either spam them with parasitic bond or enfeeble. If you find yourself low on health because a Warrior is attacking you, you can just use enfeeble and insidious parasite, so you are gaining more health than losing.
If you wanted to, I suppose you could throw in Awaken the Blood, but I find this works pretty well.

Have you tried dropping healing prayers/mending for some blood? You could then use Awaken the Blood, and Life Siphon to recoup health loss from Malaise. You could also use it on multiple targets to stack with malaise (energy permitting; soul reaping seems to be the only energy management you have).

I have tried that, and discovered that I can not keep AtB on long enough to make a difference. I suppose it could work if I practiced more at that. But I get more soul reaping if I leave it the way it was.

AtB does not need to be on too long; besides, that's what weapon switches are for. Have a 20/20 Blood staff with a 20% enchant wrap or denravi sword with enchant pommel on one weapon set, and your curses weapons on the other. It increases the length a little bit, and you shouldn't need it up all the time. Most focus-switchers will do so a few seconds after they are hit with the curses, even the base 30 seconds of AtB can be quite useful, for hitting the first round of hexes. Also, if they have enchant removal, let them use it on you instead of on a monk's prot spirit or something (only works if they are an idiot).
If you don't like Awaken the Blood, just bring Faintheartedness- rangers and warriors alike will want to strangle you. Very good if you don't have the energy for Insidious (15e is a bit costly for me, usually).

What's the point of soul barbs in this build if you don't have cheap and short-lived hexes to spam? (e.g. Wastrel's).
What's the point of Wither or Insidious in this build anyway?

I do spam them with Parasitic Bond and Enfeeble.
Wither + Malaise gives spellcasters no energy regeneration. I like to annoy people. ^_^
